Grow – Growing in our relationship with Christ is essential. It is never even hinted at, in Scripture, that believers are saved by God’s grace just so they can miss hell in the future and until then, just pass our time until we get to eternity. Our relationship with Christ is where we spend the rest of our time on earth, not only learning, but living out our faith.
We have the Holy Spirit as our Teacher as we learn what the Bible teaches us about our incredible God. We have our church family to worship with and meet each other’s needs. I grow best in a group; which brings me to our next value…connecting. |
.
Connect – Since a believer has eternal life because of the relationship he/she has with Christ, connecting with people also has great value. Christians need to stay connected to the world that doesn’t yet know Jesus Christ. Various means of outreach connect the church to the world; the world it is called to reach with the Gospel.
Another important connection point would be discovering what a small group is. These groups we do life in at Cross Point, are so helpful in connecting us with other believers; a place where we share our prayer requests, needs, thoughts, and questions about life and God. People who choose to do life outside a group, unfortunately isolate themselves from the essential value of connecting. |
.
Serve – Living for more than our own wants, needs, and desires rids us of our tendency to selfishness. Serving is often mislabeled as volunteering. Serving others gives us a chance to express our thankfulness to a God who has equipped us with spiritual gifts. Serving is an expression of love and often calls for sacrifice of some sort.
Giving of our time to serve God in an area of ministry, reminds us that we have a God-given purpose. Ministry opportunities are abundant; look and pray for where God may have you serve Him through serving others.

Give – Isn’t it funny that we often wait until last to mention giving because we fear that the concept of giving chaps people who are just waiting for the “money hook”. We think about it differently. We think people enjoy giving as long as they feel that what they contribute their time, money, and talents to is honorable and worthy.
Cheerfully giving to the things that please God, so that His work can be done here on earth, is one of the most fulfilling aspects of the Christian life. When people give of themselves and their “stuff”, great things happen! God steps in.
